GYLLENE SET TO RETURN Steve Brookshaw today revealed that 1997 Martell Grand National winner Lord Gyllene is set to return to action in around a month's time. His 12-year-old, who has run only twice since his 25-length Aintree victory, has recovered from the pelvic injury that has kept him out of action since last February. And the trainer is plotting a possible comeback over hurdles for the gelding before thoughts of another tilt at the National. "Lord Gyllene is very well and has been in full work for quite a bit," Brookshaw said. "If we can't find a chase for him we could start him off over hurdles as he is still a novice and he could run at the end of February or early-March. "He could have a couple of quick runs and we would see how he goes then think about the National." Lord Gyllene has been under a cloud of late, missing the entire 1997/8 season and cutting little ice in two races last term. But Brookshaw said: "He has done everything we have asked of him so far and he seems full of enthusiasm. "He had a stress fracture of the pelvis and had to stay in his box for several months but he is a lot better now."
