Mick Halford hopes Chally Chute can defy top-weight at Leopardstown on Sunday, with the five-year-old one of 19 declared for the concluding Dublin To Bahrain October Handicap.

Successful four times from 11 starts, the Fast Company chestnut was tenth of 30 in the Cesarewitch at the Curragh on his most recent outing.

"He won over two miles in Killarney and I just felt we had to try him in the Cesarewitch as it was his target for a long time," Halford, who co-trains Chally Chute with Tracey Collins, remarked.

"We just felt that he didn't quite get home in it, so then we had the choice of the race last Sunday in Naas (the November Handicap) or this race. We thought with the prevailing ground that dropping him back to the mile and a-half would be the better opportunity. I think the trip is fine for him. He has as good a chance of handling it (ground) as any.

"It is a big ask giving almost two stone to some horses. He has the weight for a reason and is lightly raced. He has a bit of class about him.

"I'm looking forward to it."
