Michael Halford believes Toscanini could be a major force in top sprints next season.

The County Kildare trainer feels the three-year-old's latest display against hardy and classy speedsters augurs well for the future.

Toscanini was always up with the pace in the Group Two Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh but was just run out of it in the final half-furlong and had to settle for fourth place behind Group One winners Sole Power and Maarek and Group Two scorer Take Cover.

"I was delighted with him the last day when the ground was softer than ideal for him against wonderful seasoned Group One horses," said Halford.

"I thought it was a very good performance for a three-year-old.

"We'll discuss what we do with him for the rest of the season, whether to run him again or not.

"He'll be an exciting sprinter to have for next season."
