Halford trio set for Dubai Simsir, Surrounding and Massif Central will fly the flag for Michael Halford in Dubai over the coming months. Successful on his first two starts at Cork and Dundalk respectively, Simsir tasted defeat for the first time when beaten a head into second at the all-weather venue on Friday. The likeable Surrounding enjoyed a lucrative 2019, winning three times at Listed level, while also claiming the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes at Fairyhouse in July. "We are taking Simsir to Dubai and are also bringing out Surrounding and Massif Central," Halford revealed. "Simsir had so little experience and won his first two runs pretty easily so that's why we ran him again in Dundalk. "Surrounding and Massif Central both worked before racing at Dundalk (on Friday) and both went well. "Surrounding has been terrific for us and I think she will love it out there in the sun. "Paul Rooney loves it out in Dubai and is looking forward to getting back there with Massif Central. He should like the surface and also like the sun on his back. "They leave Ireland on the 27th (December) and fly out of Stansted on the 28th."
