Hannon junior ready for the challenge Richard Hannon junior admits it would be "a dream come true" if he were to emulate his father by being crowned champion trainer. The 38-year-old was installed as 11/10 joint favourite with Aidan O'Brien to capture the 2014 title in his first season following the news on Thursday he is to take the reins at their Marlborough base from five-times champion Richard Hannon senior on January 1. "That would be lovely, a dream come true. Whether it will happen or not I don't know. Obviously it's a lot of pressure and something I don't pay much attention to but it would be lovely if we could get it done," he told At The Races. "I'd like to see the business be a success. It already is and to maintain that would be my goal. "We've got a lot of good owners and lovely horses to look forward to next year. We've got Sky Lantern, Olympic Glory, Toronado and Toormore all staying in training for next year and Piping Rock as well," he said. "We've got a lot to an awful lot to look forward to and we've got to keep moving forward. That's the main thing. "It will carry on in much the same away as it has been. Dad will still be massively involved in the business and we'll continue to do it together just as we have done for the last 15 to 20 years. "It's lovely to have my name on the licence obviously but not a lot changes, it's still me and him. He obviously thought it was the right time and I thought it was the right time for about five years!"
