Hannon leaves four in super sprint

Richard Hannon showed today that he aims to continue his fine record in the Weatherbys Super Sprint by leaving in four two-year-olds at today`s confirmation stage.

Princess Petardi (8st 6lb), Lady Links (8-5), Partytime (8-4) and Woodsmoke (8-4) are Hannon`s quartet for the Stg£135,000 prize over an extended five furlongs at Newbury on Saturday.

Dane O`Neill has been pencilled in for Partytime with Martin Dwyer on Woodsmoke.

The Marlborough trainer has won the race three times with Lyric Fantasy (1992), Risky (1993) and Miss Stamper (1996).

He has also had four seconds, including Elsie Plunkett, who was runner-up to Superstar Leo 12 months ago.

Heading the list of 29 confirmations is Whitbarrow (9-3), winner of the Woodcote Stakes at Epsom on Derby day.

His trainer Rod Millman won this race in 1997 with Lord Kintyre.

Tim Easterby, successful with Flanders in 1998, has accepted with three - Pepperoni (8-7), Good Girl (8-5) and Princess Sofie (8-1).
