Harrington fears awesome Frankel

Jessica Harrington is well aware of the task facing Pathfork when he lines up against odds-on favourite Frankel in the Qipco 2000 Guineas on Saturday week.

Pathfork was unbeaten as a juvenile and has a victory over Racing Post Trophy winner Casamento to his credit.

The Distorted Humour colt was supposed to run at the Breeders' Cup last November but a late setback restricted him to just three runs.

"Everything's fine with Pathfork," Harrington told The Telegraph.

"He has a couple of bits of work to do then we will ship him over next Wednesday. I'm happy with him, he's developed well over the winter. Everything's worked out well so far."

Despite other creditable contenders falling by the wayside in recent days, Harrington knows the size of the challenge at hand.

"You wouldn't know how many Aidan O'Brien was bringing over and it slightly depends what turns up, but I thought Frankel was awesome on Saturday, amazing," she said.

"He did everything required and couldn't have done it any better. He looks the one to beat."

With the dust now settled on Frankel's seasonal reappearance, Henry Cecil just hopes the Classic goes to plan also.

The worrying thing for his opponents is that the legendary trainer believes the son of Galileo can only improve as the season progresses.

"Frankel did everything I expected him to do on Saturday and I now hope he can come good on 2000 Guineas day," Cecil told his website, www.henrycecil.com.

"The race should bring him on and I also feel that another furlong should be to his advantage. One can never be over confident but I am very hopeful for him. Win or lose I am sure he will improve as the year goes on."
