Harris Leaves Hospital

Jay Harris is reported to be stiff and sore but otherwise in one piece following his horrific fall at Wincanton yesterday.

Racing at the West Country track had to be delayed by 30 minutes to allow the jump jockey to be airlifted to Yeovil District Hospital.

Harris was injured when riding the Nigel Hawke-trained Stars In His Eyes, who was brought down by Warlord at the third-last flight in the Elite Racing Novices' Hurdle on Monday.

Both horses were subsequently put down.

'He came out of hospital last night. Thankfully, there are no broken bones. He was kicked around the face a little bit but nothing much else ? he wasn't knocked out,' said Hawke.

'Taking everything into consideration he's come out of it really well but obviously he's a bit stiff and blue this morning.

'Basically because he wasn't unconscious I suppose as soon as he feels well enough he'll be back in the saddle.'
