Harty pleased with Cathaoir form boost

Eddie Harty allowed himself a quiet smile after the victory of An Cathaoir Mor in Sunday's Frank Ward Solicitors Irish Arkle Novice Chase at Leopardstown.

Harty's Captain Cee Bee beat Henry de Bromhead's charge by over five lengths on his first start for over 600 days at Naas in December on unfavourably heavy ground.

He was trimmed by most bookmakers at the head of the ante-post betting for the Arkle as a result, and is set to have his next start in the BBA Ireland Limited Opera Hat Novice Chase at Naas on February 6th.

"It was a nice boost for the form," said Harty.

"I see they shortened him up on the back of it, I suppose they were entitled to really.

"The form got a nice boost. It was a shame Zaarito (second at Naas) fell as it would have been nice to see how he got on.

"My fellow is in great form, he heads to Naas on Saturday week.

"He handled the heavy ground at Naas earlier in the season. He's a stronger horse now, he's more mature so he can handle it, but he still prefers better ground.

"As long as it is not bottomless at Naas he'll run, as long as it is constructive to go he'll go but if it's detrimental we won't.

"It looks the hottest race of the Festival so we'll keep our fingers crossed they all get there."

Captain Cee Bee is as low as 4-1 with Ladbrokes and Boylesports for the Arkle in March.
