Harvey plays his hand late on My Trump Card A bumper and maiden hurdle winner for Gordon Elliott, My Trump Card (20/1) recorded a first win for John McConnell in Kilbeggan’s Sean Daly Memorial Handicap Hurdle over two miles. The 230,000 euro store was picked up for 4,000 euro in May and, on his fourth start in the colours of the Wise Guys Syndicate, benefitted from a strong gallop to come from well off the pace for a half-length victory over Hopeful Hero. “A lot of it wasn’t by choice. He’s a big galloping horse and things happened quickly for him today. We went hard throughout and things fell into my lap,” said rider Alex Harvey. “Since John got him he’s done a brilliant job, he’s really sweetened him up and it was a great confident boost for him there. “I thought it was a nice run in Killarney the last day. He can be a bit ungenuine so we held him up and he finished out well when he was passing horses, so we said we’d ride him like that today. “Things just worked out, off a good gallop everything fell right for him today. “I thought we went hard, I didn’t know if they’d come back to me in time. It took my lad a while to get going, but when he did, he hit the line strong. It was great that the line was far enough away for me to get there. “I thought 100 yards out I was coming with a wet sail and I might do Donagh (Meyler, on Hopeful Hero).
