HAYDOCK OFF

Haydock became the day`s second victim of the cold snap early this morning.

A heavy fall of snow forced the jumps meeting to be called off before a scheduled inspection.

General manager Adam Waterworth said: 'It is very disappointing as this has quickly become one of our bigger meetings of the year but we had no chance.

'We have had a lot of snow, it was very heavy overnight. And there is more forecast on top of frozen ground so we had no chance whatsoever.'

Today`s meeting at Musselburgh had already been abandoned.

Hopes are high that Taunton will provide Britain`s only jumps racing today.

The track has not been as badly hit by the cold weather as had been feared and after an early-morning inspection a decision was made to have another check of the course at 10.00am.
