After his win in the Supermacs Dooradoyle Chase at Limerick on Abolitionist last Sunday the Stewards interviewed Brian Hayes concerning his use of the whip in closing stages of the race.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his saddle slipped back in this race.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found Brian Hayes in breach of Reg. 10 3 (d) by using his whip after the winning post had been reached and having taken his record into account suspended him for two race days.

The Stewards further found Brian Hayes in breach of Rule 213 by failing to report in the first instance anything which might have affected the running of his horse and having taken his record into account suspended him for two race days.

Hayes has now lodged an appeal against the latter sanction.
