Chris Hayes expects Search For A Song to be the classiest horse on show if conditions suit in the Prix Vicomtesse Vigier at ParisLongchamp on Thursday.

The Dermot Weld-trained mare was last seen contesting the Group Two Yorkshire Cup, finishing fourth behind Stradivarius on her second run of the term so far.

Prior to that the Irish St Leger winner was the runner up in the Listed Vintage Crop Stakes at Naas when coming home two and three-quarter lengths behind Aidan O’Brien’s Kyprios.

Hayes was in the saddle for both performances and will take the ride again in France.

“She seems well, I think ground conditions just weren’t in her favour in York,” he told Sky Sports Racing.

“It tightened up a little bit and turned to the quicker side of good, closer to firm, but she still ran a decent race in defeat.

“Ground conditions tomorrow should suit a little bit better and hopefully if there’s a nice even tempo she’ll produce her best.

“If she does, to me she’s the best in the field.”
