Aidan O’Brien opened his account in the juvenile division this season when New Yorker landed odds of 4/7 in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Dundalk.

The well-bred son of No Nay Never needed to be rousted along by Ryan Moore but got on top inside the final 150 yards to beat Litmus Test by a length and a quarter.

The pace-setting Belle Island was a further half a length away in third.

O’Brien was represented by Chris Armstrong who said: "Today is not ideal with the wind and rain which is very tough for babies.

"He is a horse that has been going nicely at home. None of the two-year-olds at this stage have done very much - he is a horse that has been showing the right signs.

"He is bred to be quick, he looks quick. He will improve a tonne from this run, and he looks like an Ascot two-year-old.

"All being well, we will give him one more run before Ascot. We will see how he comes out of this and it may be something like the First Flier (Curragh) or the winners' race at Naas or the Marble Hill (Curragh).

"He is one really to look forward to."

When asked him if he sees him as a Coventry type, he replied: "We'll see how he comes through the next run.

"Today, it was really tough for them. He handled the prelims well and he was good in the race."
