Heffernan Expects Big Macarthur Performance

Seamus Heffernan can't wait for his first King George ride when he partners Macarthur on Saturday.

Macarthur is one of three runners from Aidan O'Brien's all-conquering Ballydoyle yard, headed by hot favourite Duke Of Marmalade.

Having won the Ormonde Stakes at Chester, he finished third behind stablemate Soldier Of Fortune and Youmzain in the Coronation Cup.

He then returned to winning ways when claiming the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot last time, and has genuine each-way claims at least on Saturday.

"His runs this year have been very good indeed," said Heffernan.

"He was very highly-rated at home as a three-year-old but he had a little setback. This is his right trip though, he's very good over a mile and a half.

"Red Rock Canyon is in there to make sure nobody has any excuses, you either stay the trip or you don't. Nobody wants a muddling race.

"I'm very happy to be riding him (Macarthur), make no mistake about it. He's my first ride in the King George and this horse is very good in his own right."
