Hell Of A Spin could be Breeders’ Cup bound Hell Of A Spin could have earned his way to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint Turf following his gallant display in the Tattersalls Middle Park Stakes. Adrian Keatley’s stable star was among four in a bunched finish at Newmarket last weekend, with his charge coming home a length and a quarter behind Orthodox in third. The juvenile has progressed nicely throughout the campaign since winning a Hamilton maiden in July, adding further third-placed finishes in the Molecomb and Gimcrack at Goodwood and York respectively, before producing a career-best at headquarters. Keatley has his sights on a trip to Keeneland on October 30 as Hell Of A Spin continues to impress when stepping up in grade. “We expected for him to run as he did, he was way overpriced based on his Gimcrack run,” he said. “We were a little bit unlucky not to nab second, Mikey (Sheehy, jockey) had to switch late on which wasn’t ideal in a high-class sprint like that, but we were delighted with the run. “He’s a very sound horse, he has a great mind and has taken his racing well. He’s improving with every run, we have pitched him in at the deep end on more than one occasion and we hope to go to the Breeders’ Cup next. “He will stay further as well, he has the pace and the mind to settle up for further no problem. He has a massive future in front of him.” With Stateside appearing to be the next port of call, Keatley hinted a Guineas tilt is not out of the question for the Naval Crown colt next season. “We hope to go to the Breeders’ Cup next. Orthodox will probably go there and there’s no reason to say why he can’t get a bit closer to him next time,” the Wold House handler added. “It’s what we’re all aiming for, if you’re not aiming high in this game then you’re better off not being in it. That’s what we all aim for and strive to achieve with the horses we have and he’s been representing us well all summer. “You always love to think you might have a Guineas horse on your hands, but who knows. We’ll get his two-year-old career out of the way first then think about his three-year-old when all the dusts settles.”
