Hero leads home 1-2-4-5 for Hogan Denis Hogan looked to have a strong hand in the opening claimer at Dundalk this afternoon and so it proved as Sporting Hero beat stablemate Dontspoilasale. Alan Casey had won on the Bobby’s Kitten gelding here back in February and did the steering again on the five-year-old. He settled behind the leaders on the 10/3 joint-favourite before conjuring a strong run from his mount to lead inside the final furlong. Sporting Hero held the challenge of Dontspoilasale late on to secure a head success. Hogan also had the fourth, Just Jump, and fifth Green Icon, in the six furlong contest. Casey, who was riding his third winner, said: "I spoke to Denis and he said they would go fast and he told me to drop in fourth or fifth. I was able to get that position and they went fast. "He was brave and, once I pulled him out, he found the whole way. "He picked up very well and loves this track. He has run around the turf for the summer, but he loves this place. "He has been lucky for me so far anyway. "I'm down to 7lb now and it is great. Denis has been very good to me to give me the rides. I have to thank the owners as well, that is two winners they have given me now." Sporting Hero was claimed by Premier Racing to be trained by Denis Hogan. Gordon Bennett was claimed by GF O'Neill, to be trained by Peter Fahey. Winemaker was claimed by Declan McGuigan. (Quotes by Michael Graham)
