Hexham goes ahead

This afternoon's fixture at Hexham goes ahead after passing an 8am inspection.

The seven-race jumps card had looked in some doubt earlier in the week following snowfall in Northumberland.

Conditions have, however, improved markedly over the last 24 hours - although the ground will still be extremely demanding.

Clerk of the course James Armstrong said: "We've had three millimetres of rain overnight, but we are able to race.

"The snow is not the problem anymore, but people have to be aware that it's going to be very testing ground.

"It is also very, very windy out there, so we still need to monitor the situation during the day."
