Hills Happy To Ride The Storm

Michael Hills believes Sienna Storm, his mount in the Vodafone Derby, has plenty going for him — despite being one of the rank outsiders.

Hills, successful in the premier Classic on Shaamit 10 years ago, teams up with the 500-1 chance for the first time in public at Epsom on Saturday.

The Mark Tompkins-trained colt has already had experience of the track, finishing a close last of three to Before You Go in the Blue Riband Trial in April after making most of the running.

Sienna Storm booked his Derby ticket when a staying-on second to Championship Point in the Predominate Stakes at Goodwood four weeks ago.

“The advantage with this horse is that he’s been around Epsom before this year and ran a good race,” said Hills.

“He’s got enough speed to get a good position early on, which is vital.

“He’s a well-balanced horse so will have no problem handling the track — and he’s an improving horse,” Hills told www.marktompkins.co.uk.
