Hills team launch York raid

Storming Home will head a strong raiding party from Barry Hills` Lambourn stable at York next week.

The Machiavellian colt finished a creditable fifth behind Galileo in the Vodafone Derby before impressing in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He improved again to finish a fine fourth, beaten a short-head for third, in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes on his last start.

And he is set to tackle the Great Voltigeur Stakes on the opening day of the three-day meeting, which gets underway on Tuesday.

'He`s very well in himself,' said Hills` assistant Kevin Mooney today, who also revealed that the stable hope to have 'around 10 to 15' runners on the Knavesmire.

'We are very pleased with him as he`s gone really well at home since the King George.'

Another Hills runner on course for York is Solo Flight, who has the Tote-sponsored Ebor in his sights.

The four-year-old was set a fair bit to do in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at the Royal meeting before finding trouble in running, and then finished a disappointing seventh of 14 in the Tote Old Newton Cup at Haydock last month.

'He got no run at Royal Ascot and was a bit unlucky,' Mooney added.

'He then ran at Haydock where it was a bit soft for him but he`s well in himself.'

Solo Flight is 10-1 second-favourite with the sponsors for the mile and three-quarters contest next Wednesday.
