Trainer Sean Aherne sent out 25/1 chance Hillstar Blues to take the Racing Again On The 27th November Handicap Hurdle at Thurles.

Well beaten on his recent handicap debut at Listowel, the Eoin Barry owned four-year-old benefitted from that experience to open his account under Sean O'Keeffe.

In the leading half dozen from the off, the eventual winner headed Answering entering the straight, before holding the strong challenge of Freddie Robdal from the final flight to score by a short head.

Sean Aherne said:: "Some of his form wasn't too bad at all and he finished fourth at Kilbeggan in June, and the third-placed horse won last month. He was entitled to come here with some little chance but we wouldn't have been disappointed if he finished fourth or fifth.

"A lot of my horses had been sick and thank God they seemed to have turned the corner and are healthy.

"I'd say if we stepped him up in distance he might improve again and he is also only four."
