It was a great return to the saddle for jockey Reese Holohan as he enjoyed a double from his first two rides back after a six-week layoff with injury.

After picking up a winning spare ride on Dynamic Force in the second race, he guided the Denis Hogan-trained Hexagonal (10/1) to a breakthrough victory in the penultimate race at Gowran, the Tote Apprentice Handicap over nine and a half furlongs.

The five-year-old son of Lope De Vega tracked th leaders and hit the front a furlong and a half out. He went on to score by two and a quarter lengths, with Duchess Anne staying on well to finish second after leading for most of the way.

"I came here thinking I had two right chances and thankfully both of them came out on top,"said Holohan.

"I'm just very lucky to be getting these rides, and I'd just like to thank everyone that gave me them.

"It's hard when you're watching the ones that you think you should have been on, or you know you could have been on, and they start winning.

"That's all part of the game and it makes you stronger, I think, in the end. I'm just delighted to be back now."
