Hope Ruled Out Of Royal Meeting

Cape Of Good Hope has been ruled out of a bid for back-to-back victories at Royal Ascot due to injury.

A ligament problem the Hong Kong-based sprinter sustained in Australia three months ago has resurfaced forcing trainer David Oughton to announce the eight-year-old will not be making the trip to Britain.

Last summer, Cape Of Good Hope ran twice at Royal Ascot at York, finishing fourth in the King's Stand Stakes and then winning the Golden Jubilee Stakes.

Oughton said: 'Cape Of Good Hope sustained a check ligament injury when finishing third to Takeover Target in Australia back in February.

'I've been nursing him since and I was able to trial him. He actually worked very well and I was pleased with him. However, it has flared up and he is sore so we'll have to miss Ascot.'
