Hugh Horgan partnered his first winner over jumps, on only his second ride, when Duke Silver ran out a convincing winner of the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown.

The Joseph O’Brien-trained gelding was produced to lead going to the last in the two-mile-seven contest.

He stayed on strongly in the closing stages to hold the late challenge of Yeah Man by three-parts-of-a-length.

“I’m delighted, he’s been a progressive horse as he’s gone up in trip. Hugh gave him a great ride, it was only his second ride over hurdles,” said O’Brien.

“I’m delighted for (my sister) Sarah as well, it’s nice to have a winner.

“He likes a bit of goodish ground. Hugh gave him a fantastic ride and produced him at the right time.

“Hugh has had a great start and long may it last. He’ll probably do both (Flat and NH), he’s getting taller. He’s good value for his claim.”
