Hour cleans up in handicap

By The Hour returned to form when recording a 16/1 shock under Philip Enright in the Ryan's Event Cleaners Handicap Chase.

The eight-year-old mare arrived full of running to lead approaching the final fence. However she was soon pushed along and hung a bit left on the run-in resulting in a stewards enquiry.

The well-backed favourite Questions Answered (7/2-9/4) also edged left onto the far rail after the last causing Deal Done to snatch up.

By The Hour stayed on under pressure to beat Questions Answered by a length and a half, with Deal Done another three lengths back in third. Conem kept on well to finish just a further half length back in fourth. The placings remained unaltered following the enquiry.

Winning trainer Robert Tyner was otherwise engaged at Nenagh point-to-point but his wife Mary said, “She just didn't want to know the last day at Clonmel but the way she jumped off today and pinged the first I knew she was in good humour. Hopefully she will come back here for a 2m5f handicap on Hennessy day in a few weeks.”
