Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) has launched an app to allow racegoers to vote in the Outstanding Achievement category of the annual racing awards.

The awards app contains profiles of each of the nominees to assist racing fans in making their selection. The app will also allow users to watch the awards ceremony, streamed live to their mobile devices, on December 9th.

All those who vote through the app will be entered into a draw for two people to attend the awards at Leopardstown racecourse.

The Outstanding Achievement Award nominations include six trainers and two jockeys.

The trainers are Charles Byrnes, Dot Love, Eddie Lynam, Willie McCreery, Joanna Morgan and Mick Winters, while the jockey nominees are Chris Hayes and Barry Cash.

Commenting on the awards app, Michael O’Rourke, HRI’s Director of Marketing and Communications said: “We created the app in response to public interest in participating in the awards and this category offers the ideal opportunity for everyone to get involved.

"It is packed with information and images of the nominees. Live streaming of the event will be very popular as the awards are of great interest to the racing and general sporting public."

The awards app, which is available now to download through iTunes or Google Play, includes profiles of all other categories and their nominees: National Hunt, Flat, Point-to-Point and Horse of the Year categories, which are decided by a ballot of the Irish racing media.
