Hughes fine after Ascot fall Richard Hughes is none the worse for a heavy fall at Ascot on Saturday and plans to be back in action on Monday. The jockey took a heavy tumble when his mount Kojak veered badly left and unshipped him approaching the final furlong of the McGee Group Maiden Stakes. As a consequence he went for a check-up at the Heatherwood Hospital after complaining of pain in his leg. "I needed a precautionary X-ray, but it was just bruising. I'll be back tomorrow," he said. Hughes is set for a double header with rides at Brighton's afternoon card and Windsor in the evening.
