Hughes Happy With Strong Performance

Dessie Hughes has taken encouragement from Strong Flow's belated reappearance and may now aim him at the WilliamHill.ie Troytown Chase at Navan on November 25.

The 2003 Hennessy Gold Cup winner has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, managing just four more starts for Paul Nicholls after winning the Newbury showpiece.

Having been retired, Strong Flow returned to training in Ireland and finished fourth to Nicholls' Taranis in the James Nicholson Wine Merchant Champion Chase last weekend.

'That was a good run as he'd had nearly three years off the track,' Hughes told At The Races.

'He wouldn't have been 100% fit and it was just a nice race to start him off in. Hopefully now he'll come on for that and I'm sure he will.

'He'll probably now go for the Troytown if the Irish handicapper lets him into the race.'
