Richard Hughes will learn whether he has a realistic chance of fighting for the jockeys' championship in Britain at a hearing on March 28th.

Hughes spent the winter in India but picked up a ban for reportedly not riding to instructions, an offence that does not exist in Great Britain.

If the ban is reciprocated by the British Horseracing Authority, as has been requested by officials in India, Hughes would not be able to ride until April 29th.

Given that the new turf season begins at Doncaster on March 31st, Hughes would be a month behind the pacesetters in the race to be champion.

"Richard Hughes' appeal that suspension imposed upon him by officials in India is not reciprocated in Britain is to be heard on Weds 28th Mar," tweeted the BHA.
