Trainer Thomas Cooper continued his recent good form at Fairyhouse when Icare D'Aubrelle opened his account over jumps in the Ryan's Cleaning Maiden Hurdle at the County Meath track.

Tralee based Cooper had struck with another maiden winner Butch Hollow on his previous visit to the track earlier this month. Like this afternoons victor, that latter horse was also owned by Ciaran Mooney.

Prominent throughout, the former Naas bumper winner found plenty under pressure to hold all comers from the back of the second last.

A first time hood certainly aided his cause, as the seven-year-old jumped and travelled strongly before proving too good for Emily Love and Net Boy

Tom Cooper said: “He’s a horse with a lot of problems but got it together today. He’d leg trouble.

“He won his bumper easily in Naas and could have been top drawer.

“His legs are good now and he’s crying out for a fence.

“We’ll put him away now and then go chasing.”
