I’ll Sort That produced a powerful front-running performance to land the opening maiden hurdle at Listowel this afternoon.

Declan Queally gave his mount a positive ride as he bounced out in the two-miler and set a strong pace.

The 11/10 favourite had his rivals in trouble turning for home and stayed on well, when asked for an effort two from home, to post a 13 length win over Wholelotofbusiness

I’ll Sort That was making his hurdling debut today having won two bumpers last season.

“He only missed two hurdles on the way around. We did a nice bit of schooling on him, and I schooled him yesterday morning,” said Queally.

“He’s an intelligent horse, loads of scope. We were a little bit worried about the trip coming here so I said to David that I’d buck out and keep it simple.”

On riding the horses himself he added:-

“There is a small bit of pressure but it is what it is and if they get beat it’s not the end of the world.

“David wanted me to ride the horse. He texted me after I rode a winner in Galway and told me to save a couple of rides against pros for him.

“He’s a very nice horse, he stays well and I’d be hoping that he’d be a graded horse down the line. He’s a nice horse to have.

“We’re getting better horses and the fact that we’re not selling horses anymore, we’re keeping all the good ones which builds a squad. It’s like a football club or anything.

“We’re getting rid of the bad ones and keeping the good ones so we’re getting stronger and stronger.

“It’s great, everyone puts in a good effort and it’s well worthwhile.”
