IEC helping horse welfare Horse welfare is something that everyone in racing should hold dear but one teenager doing more than his fair share to look after the equine population is Joseph Quinn, who has highlighted the issue on his website www.irelandsequinecrisis.com. The fundraising and equine care group (also known as IEC) was only founded last year and, with fears of another harsh winter like the one gone by, money is needed to ensure adequate feed and care is available for any unwanted or neglected horses. IEC provide horses in need with food, care and water, and also operate an emergency feeding plan in winter. They have an exclusive designed merchandise range that promotes the chairties name, with 100% of the profits going directly back into funds for it's work with horses in need. IEC currently works in the Leinster area but is hoping to soon expand, and plans are in place for a rescue centre within the next five years. It is run on voluntary public donations, and organises fundraising programmes such as an upcoming “Skydive” parachute jump on October 22.
