I'm Spartacus completed a quick 53/1 double for Adrian McGuinness, as he led home 11 rivals in the Floodlit Friday Nights At Dundalk Stadium Handicap.

Registering his second win of the winter campaign in this six-furlong heat, the Profitable chestnut was available at 12s in early shows, before eventually going off a 5/1 chance.

Breaking smartly and soon settled behind the leaders by Adam Caffrey, the now six-time winner came with his challenge between horses from early in the straight.

Edging to the front with less than two-furlongs to go, the Paddy and Conor McKeever-owned five-year-old kept finding for pressure and ultimately came home a length-and-a-quarter to the good.

With Rowan Scott aboard, Reposado (14/1) finished second, while Masked Angel (4/1) was a head away in third.

Second on his last three starts, Go Out was returned the 11/4 favourite and he finished a disappointing eighth.

"We ran him over five (furlongs) the last day and probably shouldn't," McGuinness, who won the previous contest with Una Matata reflected.

"Six/seven (furlongs) I think is the real deal for him and six is probably proper.

"We had a good draw (four) - Adam rides him very well. We knew there was plenty of pace but we weren't going to give his draw away there today.

"The new layout in the track is a huge difference. It is bringing the horses more around the (home) bend all the time. Once you stay straight coming up the middle, I think it is perfect. I think it is there to stay because it is working very well.

"He's a bit of a quirky horse. We gave him a good, hard piece of work up the hill just to clear him out and it actually made a difference.

"He could do (go to Lingfield on Good Friday), we'll see. We could sneak into one of those, we will see what the handicapper does with him. He is what he is. He goes to a certain mark and levels out."

STEWARDS REPORTS

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident early in the home straight involving Go Out (FR), ridden by Reese Holohan, Bold Optimist ridden by R.P. Fagan, and Sandi O Mali ridden by M.W Hassett where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Reese Holohan stated that the horse in front of him came across and he had to check. M.W Hassett stated that he received a slight bump from his inside. R.P. Fagan stated that his mount was leaning right but he tried his best to keep him straight. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action other than to remind R.P. Fagan to ride with more awareness in future. R.P. Fagan was accompanied by Daniel McLoughlin in this enquiry.
