The first race on Tramore's 'Student Raceday' card, sponsored in its entirety by O'Driscolls Irish Whiskey, was the claiming hurdle over two miles and it was won in decisive fashion by Tell Us This (7/2).

The only ride of the day for conditionals' title-challenger Eoin Staples, the Westerner gelding was full of running when hitting the front two out and was ridden clear to beat market leader You Done Well by 12 lengths.

Owned by the Old School Syndicate, the seven-year-old was switching back to the smaller obstacles after a fruitless campaign over fences during the winter and duly registered his third success.

Winning trainer Gavin Cromwell said "He has been consistent at a level all season and, back down in grade today, I suppose he was entitled to win it. It was an opportunity to a win a race and whatever will be, will be. If he's not sold we can mix it with him, he is open to run in anything."

Andrew McNamara subsequently claimed Tell Us This for €7,000.
