Impressive Hurdling Debut For Mister Hight

Mister Hight advertised himself as Ireland´s leading contender for the JCB Triumph Hurdle with a highly-impressive debut victory in the Celebrate New Years Eve At Punchestown 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle.

A decent performer on the Flat, Willie Mullins has transferred the juvenile´s attentions to jumping and he was ridden confidently by Ruby Walsh throughout.

Sweeping through the field on the back straight, the 4-6 favourite took the lead approaching the last and after his closest rival Noble Concorde fell, he cruised home for a 20-length victory over Marhaba Million.

Mullins said: 'I am delighted with that and Ruby was happy at all times.

'The horse is much better on soft ground and I am hoping he´ll improve from the run here.

'The aim would be Cheltenham and we might run him next in a race at Leopardstown at the beginning of February.'

Mister Hight was cut to 7-1 favourite by William Hill, and to 8-1 joint-favourite with Afsoun by Cashmans, for the Triumph Hurdle.
