Retiring Lot Of Joy (12/1) led home a Willie Mullins-trained ‘1-2’ in the Curragh’s concluding Dubai Duty Free Irish EBF Stayers Handicap today, defeating her better fancied stablemate Too Bossy For Us (9/4f), to win under jockey Seamie Heffernan.

Fresh from winning the Wokingham at Royal Ascot last week and a Curragh maiden yesterday, Heffernan raced prominently throughout on Lot Of Joy and improved the seven-year-old mare to lead three furlongs out before eventually holding stablemate Too Bossy For You by 1.25 lengths.

Regarding the 2021 Swedish St Leger winner, Mullins reported “I’m delighted for the filly to break her duck on the Flat (in Ireland) and that’s her final attempt, as she’s in foal and goes to stud now.

“It’s a tremendous way to sign off and I’m delighted Seamie Heffernan did the job for us: he’s always a man you can depend on.

“The second (Too Bossy For Us) ran very well and might have been a little too keen throughout the race. There is a nice race in him somewhere and he could head to Galway.”
