In-form Morris considers plans for stable stars Limestone Rock added to the good run of form of the Mouse Morris stable when jumping particularly well and staying on strongly from the front to land a division of the maiden hurdle at Naas yesterday. Carrying the colours of Michael O’Flynn, the Leading Light 5-year-old looks a nice prospect and Morris is looking forward to sending him over fences in due course and will not over-race his charge for the remainder of this season. In the same yellow and red silks of O’Flynn, and also ridden by Phillip Enright, Sams Profile landed the Grade 2 John Mulhern Galmoy Hurdle for the stable last Thursday. The Black Sam Bellamy gelding, twice a runner-up at Grade 1 level as a novice hurdler, reverted to the smaller obstacles after a couple of runs over fences and battled on bravely to see off Diol Ker by half a length. “Sams Profile has come out of the race great, unbelievable. He’s a really tough horse,” said Morris. “He’ll go for the Stayers Hurdle.” More immediately, Cork maiden hurdle Gentlemans Game could line up in the opening race of the Dublin racing Festival at Leopardstown on Saturday. The grey son of Gentlewave was acquired by Brian Acheson’s Robcour after winning a point-to-point in October for Donnchadh Doyle and was a wide margin winner when making his racecourse bow in early January. He was declared to run in a 2m7f novice hurdle at Thurles later last month but did not take up that engagement when the meeting was cancelled and later rescheduled. With a dearth of options at the moment, Morris is considering a sharp rise in class for his charge at this weekend’s high profile fixture. “Gentlemansgame may run at Leopardstown (Nathaniel Lacy Solicitors Novice Hurdle). It’s a big jump up from a maiden in Mallow to a Grade 1 but we are very limited as to where we can go. “We’ll leave him in and talk to the owners during the week. We don’t have too many places to go.”
