In-form Sheridan gives Joseph O'Brien a Cork double Joey Sheridan has made a fine start to the new Flat campaign and today steered trainer Joseph O’Brien’s second winner at Cork, as the pair landed the Dine In Our Panoramic Restaurant Race with Limestone (7/4jf). With O’Brien’s stable champion jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle sidelined until May, Sheridan has filled-in for spare rides and today bagged an 11th success this term, leaving him only two behind early championship-leader Colin Keane. On Limestone, Sheridan made the running and while the pace slowed at halfway with Limestone being joined a furlong out, rallied well to score by a half-length from Mr Vettori . Regarding Sheridan, whose biggest success came in the Group 1 2020 Prix du Cadran on Princess Zoe, O’Brien said “Joey and Declan are both top riders and it is great to have them both on the team. “Joey has been riding out for me for a year and over the winter he has come in more days. This is a tough country to get rides and he is now getting confidence.” O’Brien, earlier successful with the McDonogh-partnered Enceladus, added “it was nice to see Limestone cope with the better ground as it was very testing when he won in Listowel (in September) and today’s race turned into a dash down the straight. He looks a nice type of horse and the tongue-tie had helped him during the winter, so we used it today. “He will end up in a stakes race now and might have a look at something like the Gallinule.”
