Inis Mor to take Yorkshire Oaks challenge next week

Inis Mor will bid to make it fourth time lucky in Group One company when she runs in the Legends Global Yorkshire Oaks at York.

After finding a mile too sharp in the 1000 Guineas, David Menuisier’s filly has won a Listed race at Goodwood before finishing third in the French Oaks and second in the Irish version.

That was her first run over a mile and a half and connections are minded to keep her at that trip for now.

Eamonn O’Connor of owners Quantum Leap Racing said: “We are going to go for the Yorkshire Oaks next week. First and foremost we had to consider the distance and I think in the Irish Oaks she showed she is a pretty strong stayer.

“She finished like a train at the Curragh and in fact I think no one covered the last two furlongs quicker.

“Of the three races we were considering – the Romanet at Deauville and the Prix Vermeille at Longchamp – the Yorkshire Oaks is perhaps the stiffest competition, but we are not going to duck a challenge.

“Ascot is always a possibility at the end of the season, as she recovers well from her racing and is really starting to mature.

“She has some black type, but she hasn’t got that Group One win that would really allow us to shoot for the stars and we (the syndicate) were set up to not duck challenges and we rather set ourselves up with the name didn’t we, so we go to York.

“We have not discussed if she stays in training yet, but it could be a possibility as she has matured so much all year.”
