Inspection at Exeter tomorrow morning

Exeter's New Year's Day fixture must now pass a 7.30am inspection on raceday morning.

Officials at the Devon track staged a 9am inspection on Tuesday, and though the standing water has now cleared, a second check is required.

The going is heavy, but more rain is forecast.

Clerk of the course Barry Johnson said: "We're perfectly raceable now, with no standing water.

"We only got two millimetres of rain last night when we were forecast between six and eight, and there are some showers today, and some heavier ones forecast for tonight.

"There are stronger winds and rain forecast tomorrow so we thought the best thing to do would be to take a look tomorrow morning and take it as it comes."
