Irish dictate at Perth The Irish dictated in Perth today when taking four out of the five opening races. Gordon Elliott took the opening John MacDonald Memorial Novice’s Hurdle when 4/7 favourite Abbey Lane came home in front under Paul Carberry. Elliott and Carberry were back in the winner’s enclosure when King Roonah justified his price when taking the Black Watch 3 Scots Novices’ Handicap Hurdle by a convincing four and a half lengths. Tony Martin was on the mark next for the Irish when Red Kingdom was left out in front at the last fence when Treaty Flyer who was five lengths up at the time crashed out. Trainer Liam Lennon and jockey James O’Farrell were on the score sheet when Niamh’s Way ran out a length and a half winner of the Concert Evening July 27th Mares Maiden Hurdle. There is a strong Irish team of runners for tomorrow’s card in Perth with Gordon Elliott, Jim Dreaper, Tony Martin, Colin McBratney, Val Donoghue, Garvan Donnelly and Keith Watson all due to have runners.
