Irish Leger the target again for Liston Sonnyboyliston will have his campaign geared towards a defence of the Irish St Leger at the Curragh in September. The Power gelding has progressed from winning a handicap off 68 to Group 1 glory and trainer Johnny Murtagh is eyeing a repeat bid in the classic. Connections are yet to make early season plans for the five-year-old who is currently enjoying a break after his trip to Saudi Arabia last month. He produced a fine effort to finish second in the Red Sea Handicap at Riyadh, collecting over £370,000 in the process. "He ran really well in Saudi Arabia and has come back in good form,” said Murtagh. "Everything is geared towards the Irish St Leger again. "We gave him two weeks off. He's out in the paddock and is coming in early April. We'll make a plan for him then. "He's started the year well and hopefully he can progress right through the year and rock up at the Curragh on Champions Weekend." (AM & GC)
