Barry Geraghty feels the Irish Grand National around Fairyhouse is a great test of horse and jockey.

The famous race takes place on Easter Monday and the former champion jockey was a winner of the contest in 2014 on Shutthefrontdoor.

A field of 30 is set to line up for the three-mile-five marathon, won last year by 150/1 shot Freewheelin Dylan and Geraghty told journalist Dave Keena:-

“It's a high quality race and it has been over the years, when you look back at Desert Orchid and horses like that winning it.

“It's a great test but it's also a fair track, Fairyhouse is a big galloping track and the best horse generally wins.

“It's a long straight, the fences are well positioned and they ride really well.

“You have a big number, 30 odds runners, and position is so important. A horse needs to be up for it and a rider needs to be up for it as well.”
