Irish National target for Air Force

Air Force One could end up competing in the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse after his promising comeback run at Newbury on Saturday.

Last season's Hennessy Gold Cup runner-up finished third behind Tricky Trickster in the Aon Chase - his first outing since last April.

His trainer Charlie Mann said: "He travelled a lot better than he's done for a while - probably since last year's Hennessy - so hopefully his problems are behind him.

"We were thinking about the Grimthorpe at Doncaster, but Paul (Moloney) said the course wouldn't suit him, so we might go to Cheltenham for something like the William Hill.

"His main target would be one of the Nationals - either the English, Scottish or Irish - but they are all within about 10 days of each other.

"Because of that, he might go for the Irish National and then the Whitbread (bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown on April 24th).

"It's the only way you could do it to give him time between his races."
