Irish young guns in action at Sedgefield Paul Gallagher, three times successful in the plate over here (on Mac Han for Eamonn Tyrell at Fairyhouse in 2004 and on Frank Lacy's pair Onforatwist and Stable Whisper the same year) continues to gain admirers cross-channel and after a recent Hexham treble (on St Patrick's Day) the Kildare town native rides at Sedgefield today. A son of Robbie, attached to the Michael Halford yard and a nephew of Tom who has long been associated with the Dermot Weld outfit, Paul also has four brothers working in racing and he is a cousin to Dean Gallagher. Paul now works for Howard Johnson and two of his four rides today come for his retained yard. Now down to claiming five Gallagher rides Johnson's Scriptwriter in the opener at 2.20 and Echoes Of Dawn in the same colours half an hour later. He will be aboard outsider The Artful Fox for Mike Sowersby in the 4.35 and his current shortest priced mount of the day comes in the concluding race at 5.10 when he partners Waterloo Corner for Ray Craggs. Meanwhile Conor O'Farrell's brother James, who rides at Navan tomorrow, has his best chance today on Bocciani in the 3.25 for Dianne Sayer. Trainer Pat Kelly's son Tony has two winners under his belt since joining Ferdy Murphy and he has a chance on Catch Bob (from the family of Cousin Vinny) in the 4.00. He will also be hopeful for the Mike Sowersby-trained Moon Melody in the 2.50.
