Isaac Newton has the answers in Desmond Stakes The Aidan O'Brien trained Isaac Newton benefited from a drop in trip to win the Group 3 Bahrain Turf Club Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown. Having raced over 10-furlongs on his last few starts, the son of Montjeu appreciated the mile here as he upset some better fancied rivals. Sent off 10/1, the colt travelled strongly in third place under Ryan Moore as British raider Audience set the pace. Coming through to lead over 150 yards out, Isaac Newton stayed on well to score by one-and-a-quarter lengths. Aidan O'Brien said: "That's what he was showing us all the time and we weren't believing it. If you see him how he goes through a race, he canters through a race. He is fast. I'd say he'd even come back shorter if we wanted him but I'd say he's a miler. He'll come back here for the Boomerang."
