Jack Kennedy returns to the saddle for the first time since January at Cartmel on Sunday when he will partner three horses for his boss Gordon Elliott.

The 24-year-old broke his leg for the fifth time in his career when his mount Top Bandit fell in a Novice Chase at Naas on the 8th January. He was leading the jockeys' championship at that stage of the season with 77 winners and had hoped to return in time for Cheltenham, but his recovery has taken considerably longer than expected.

Kennedy' three rides at Cartmel on Sunday are the hat-trick seeking Arctic Ambition in the Oakmere Homes Handicap Chase at 2.05, Banks Boy in the following Handicap Hurdle at 2.40 and recent Punchestown Maiden Hurdle winner New Year Honours in the Hadwins Mares' Novices' Hurdle at 4.35.

Altogether there are 14 Irish-trained horses declared to run at Cartmel on Sunday.

Emmet Mullins saddled his first Cartmel winner yesterday through 4/9 favourite Slate Lane in the extended two mile six furlong maiden hurdle.
