Jet among Irish challengers on day four of Royal Ascot Fifteen Irish trained horses from eight different yards will do battle on the fourth day of Royal Ascot, with the Commonwealth Cup and the Coronation Stakes the Group 1 highlights. Having impressed on his return to action at Naas last month, Michael O'Callaghan's Twilight Jet is the leading Irish hope in the Commonwealth Cup. Leigh Roche will partner the bay colt who is the second highest rated runner in the line-up on a mark of 114, just a pound lower than likely favourite Perfect Power. With six wins to his name from seven starts, El Caballo is another leading contender for Karl Burke, while Aidan O'Brien and Ger Lyons are represented by Cadamosto (first time blinkers) and Sacred Bridge respectively. O'Brien saddles Tenebrism in the Coronation Stakes and she will need to reverse 1000 Guineas form with four of her rivals if she is to take this coveted prize. Discoveries, who finished a place ahead of Tenebrism in the aforementioned Newmarket Classic, represents Jessica Harrington, while Henry de Bromhead and Colin Keane team-up with the maiden Honey Girl. The unbeaten Inspiral appears the one to beat but faces strong challengers from the US and France, as well as home team representatives. Meditate is the sole Irish hope in the opening Albany Stakes and considering she is two from two, she may very well claim this Group 3 prize. The Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes (Handicap) appears competitive, with three Irish trained runners in the 19 strong field. Jessica Harrington's Ever Present is lumbered with top-weight, as he returns to action for the first time since winning at Leopardstown on Champions Weekend, while Ross O'Sullivan is represented by Longbourn. Maashhor was an easy winner at the Curragh last month on just his second start for Johnny Murtagh and he is sure to prove popular with punters in this near mile-and-a-half contest. The Sandringham Stakes (Fillies' Handicap) is another fiercely competitive affair, with a massive field of 29 set to take part. A winner at Killarney last month, Willie McCreery’s Cigamia is joint top-weight, while Lullaby will fly the flag for team Ballydoyle. Just six have been declared for the King Edward VII Stakes, with Epsom Derby fifth Changingoftheguard at the head of the betting. Trained by Aidan O’Brien, the 110 rated colt should prove hard to beat with Ryan Moore aboard. The Palace Of Holyroodhouse Stakes (Handicap) is set to be a cavalry charge, with 29 declared for this five-furlong sprint. Handicap debutant Ladies Church has some smart form to her name and she is the current market leader with Ben Coen aboard for his boss Johnny Murtagh. Adrian Murray’s Saliteh is the only other Irish representative here and she is fitted with a tongue-strap for the first time.
