Co Antrim jockey Sammy Jo Bell faces a spell on the sidelines after fracturing her pelvis at Carlisle yesterday.

She was leaving the parade ring on board Royal Duchess when the mare reared up and landed on top of her.

Bell tweeted today: "Thank you for all the calls and messages, have a fractured pubic bone so in a bit of pain but hopefully back to what I love doing soon."

She is expected to be out for between four to six weeks.

Bell is apprenticed to Richard Fahey. She was the leading jockey at the Shergar Cup last August and won the Alistair Haggis Silver Saddle.
