Jockeys blamed for Kilbeggan false start

Six jockeys picked up one-day bans following a stewards' enquiry into the start of the Carroll Cuisine Handicap Chase at Kilbeggan.

The stewards interviewed the riders following a report received from trainee starter Denis Cullen and senior starter Joe Banahan. The report stated that six jockeys had failed to obey instructions prior to the start of the race which ahd resulted in a false start.

The jockeys suspended included the first two home in the race, Ian McCarthy and Roger Loughran along with Shane Hassett, Phillip Enright, Denis Hogan and Sean Flanagan.
